Rugby meets Art

This painting is part of Touchlines of Fortitude, my Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025inspired art exhibition in Twickenham, created to celebrate stories of female strength and resilience during the 2025 tournament.

Inspiration: I was inspired by the incredible athletes of the Red Roses, whose dedication, courage, and resilience embody the spirit of women’s rugby. I wanted to capture not only their physical power but also the deeper sense of determination and unity that drives them.

Intention: My hope is that viewers feel the same energy and dynamism that I witnessed in the game itself, movement, impact, and the unbreakable spirit of women pushing boundaries. I also want this work to spark reflection on resilience more broadly, encouraging viewers to connect their own experiences of strength with the athletes’ stories.

Medium, subject, and style: I chose oil paint for its richness and depth, which allows me to layer bold, dynamic strokes and textures that mirror the intensity of rugby. The subject matter, female players in motion, was chosen to highlight the grace within the power of the sport. My style emphasizes fluid, energetic movement to echo the fast-paced, dynamic nature of the game.

Touchlines of Fortitude

Rugby Meets Art in a Celebration of Women’s Resilience

Touchlines of Fortitude launched in September 2025, uniting rugby, art and female resilience in Twickenham. Set against the backdrop of the Women’s Rugby World Cup, Touchlines of Fortitude showcases how art and rugby can come together to highlight women’s stories of strength and empowerment.

Why this matters

With the Women’s Rugby World Cup shining a global spotlight on the sport, Touchlines of Fortitude offers a unique cultural response—exploring how resilience, teamwork and creativity connect sport, art and everyday life. It highlights voices often underrepresented—from women athletes to neurodiverse artists and community leaders—and sparks conversations around strength and mental health

Meet the artist

I am a contemporary artist and curator, and my socially engaged practice is shaped by my lived experience of ADHD.

My work blends storytelling, participation, and accessibility, bridging art, sport, and resilience. Since 2021, I have devoted my energy to my passion for the visual arts. In 2024, I was longlisted for The Women in Art Emerging Artist Prize and the Visual Art Open Emerging Artist Award.

In 2025, I was awarded Arts Council funding for Touchlines of Fortitude, an inspiring programme of cultural and creative events celebrating female resilience inspired by 2025 Women’s Rugby World Cup.

My new collection celebrates resilience and energy of Red Roses Rugby stars.
